1Students will be able to form an energetic formulation of bending problem and stability problem in rods, plates and shells.
2Students will be able to divide systems into appropriate elements.
3Students will be able to choose the displacement parameters and displacement functions.
4Students will be able to determine element stiffness and load matrices.
5Students will be able to set boundary conditions in an appropriate manner.
6Students will be able to calculate critical loads.

Calculation of displacement parameters and cross-sectional effects / Finite element method in stability calculation: Energetic formulation of stability problem, division of the system into elements / Selection of displacement functions / Calculation of element stiffness matrix and load matrix / Setting of boundary conditions / Calculation of critical loads Basic steps of finite element analysis, Finite element analysis of one dimensional problems, Second order boundary value problems, Heat transfer applications, Finite element error analysis and computer applications
