General Description
History
Department of Political Science and Public Administration founded under The Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences of Yozgat Bozok University had begun to operate with both Normal and Secondary curriculum with 120 students. Medium of instruction of the programme is Turkish.

Students of Department of Political Science and Public Admisinstration are graduated with a BS Degree with the title of Bachelor of Political Science and Public Administration.

Specific Admission Requirements
Students registering the Department of Political Science and Public Admisinstration must be successful at the central ÖSYM exams in accordance with the academic and legal regulations of the university. Undergraduate transfers between institutions and within the departments of the university must comply with the regulations of Higher Council of Education and be conducted according to the rules determined by the Senate.
Specific Arrangements For Recognition Of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal)
Our department may accept students passing the lateral or vertical transfer exams when the course adjustments are provided.

Profile of The Programme
The aim of the Political Science and Public Administration Department is to raise students comprehending the political, social and economic changes on both national and international levels and prioritizing the targets and interests of the country. The department consist of three sub departments: Politics and Social Sciences, Administrative Science and Urbanization and Environmental Problems. In this context our syllabus is constructed considering the interrelated disciplines like law, economics, sociology, history, geography and social psychology. Politics and Social Sciences sub department includes the concepts and events lying in the hinterland of political science via their decisiveness and effects on Turkish and World’s politics, while the department of Administrative science deals with the public organization at local and national levels and the formation, directing and the implications of public policies. Thus the discipline covers the programme management (planning, decision making, organizing, directing, implication and the evaluation) and resource management (human resources management and budget). Urbanization and Environmental Problems sub department is closely related with sociology, law, politics and social sciences and includes urbanization processes and policies on local and national levels and the ecology and ecological issues.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples
The graduates of Political Science and Public Administration Department have many job opportunities in public and private sectors and academic fields. At public sector, they may be employed under Group A career titles such as assistant inspectors within ministries, public institutions and public banks, management trainees, assistant auditors, district governor candidates and trainee controllers. There are also employment opportunities in the finance, accounting, commerce, R & D, human resources and marketing department of companies in the private sector. They may also be employed in private banks in various positions. In academic field they may find positions like teaching or research assistants in universities during or after their graduate educations.
Access to Further Studies
Students completing the undergraduate programme may apply for graduate education in various other disciplines admitting the BS degrees in Political Science and Public Administration, Public Administration and Political Science and Political Science and International Relations.
Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading
Exams are evaluated on 100-point basis. Results of midterm and final exams are announced numerically. The results of exams not attended are evaluated as 0. Accordingly, a) the midterm average is calculated dividing the total score of midterms by the number of midterms. The result is rounded up. b) The gross score is calculated by adding the 40 percent of the midterm average to the 60 percent of the score of the final exam. In this calculation fractions are kept during the summation, however the final gross score is rounded up. c) The last grades are calculated by using the final gross score via relative methods which are to be determined by the Senate.
Graduation Requirements
In order to attain a BS degree in Political Science and Public Administration students should successfully complete all the compulsory and elective courses (corresponding to 240 ETCS ) and should get at least 2.00 cumulative out of 4.00. Furthermore, students have to complete undergraduate thesis/summer practice held in the fal lor spring semestre of final year.

Facilities
Educational and academic activities in the department are run by three associate professors. In the faculty there are 2 computer laboratories each having a capacity of 40 students for computer based courses.

8To possess theoretically and practically professional expertness in the areas of administrative science, political science, sociology, law sciences, urbanization and environmental policies.
9To learn the basic concepts, historical and daily events in the area of political science and public administration on global, national, regional levels and especially with regard to Turkey.
10Ability to analyze the administrative structures and the developments in the systems of administrations of different countries.
11To possess the ability to analyze political events in Turkey and the World.
12To have information about the basic properties and developments of the public law, private law, judiciary system and Turkish constitutional order.
13Attends scientific activities concerning the field of political science and public administration.
14Capacity to act in accordance with social, scientific, cultural and ethical values in the area of political science and public administration, to imply the acquired skills in Professional and social life.
15To possess the skills necessary to reach written and visual literature concerning the field and to analyze and comment the related legislation.
16Attains the consciousness on subjects like human rights and freedoms, democracy, citizenship, social justice, public service and public interest, protection of historical and cultural values, protection of environment, occupational health and safety.
17Knows about the basic problems, contemporary developments and approaches on national and international levels related to the political science and public administration
