Department of Plant Protection was founded in 1992. It was started to education at level of bachelor in 2012.

A applicant student must take a adequate score in LYS exam.
Specific Arrangements For Recognition Of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal)
The students should refer 15 days before the education year begins, for the exemption of the lectures which they succeed before. The assessment is made according to the rules of the Faculty Senate. For the English, an exemption exam is organized at the beginning of the education year. The students who could be successful with the exams, have the right of the exemption for these lectures.
Qualification Requirements and Regulations
Students must obtain a grade point average of at least 2.00 out of 4.00 and successfully pass all courses on the programme (equivalent to a total of 240 ECTS).
Profile of The Programme
Plant Protection Program is to give students basic and required skills to be able to recognize and identify pests, disease and weeds, which are harmful in agricultural areas, to give knowledge about their biological and morphological features, damage types, to protect cultivated crops by considering the most applicable basic and innovative approaches.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples
This degree enables garduates to work in establishment of many public or private sector. Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Livestock, Ministry of Environment and Forestry, Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, Ministry of Development, National Productivity Centre, Export Development and Study Center, Undersecretariat of Treasury, , Agro-Industry Enterprises, Agricultural Cooperatives, Control and Certification Bodies, Consulting Firms in agriculture and agro-industry and non-governmental organizations.
Access to Further Studies
The students who hold a Bachelor's Degree may continue to MSc and PhD studies in Plant Protection related disciplines offered at national level and or international level.
Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading
Assesment and grading for every lecture is defined as detailed in the course description plan. The assesment of the lectures is made based on the relative graduation system. The assesment of the lectures is made according to the 21. rule of the education rules which belong to the B U. Faculty of Agriculture. The grade of a lecture is obtained with the addition of 40% of the midterm exam grade and grades of other educational activities to 60% of the final exam grade. In theorotical courses, the grades which belong to the mid term exam and other educational activities are not assesed when the student is identified not successful with the theorotical exam. These students are declared as not successful with the lecture, without attending the final exam and the grade is assesed as FF (absentee).
Graduation Requirements
As additional to the section qualifications requirement and regulations, there is an obligation to have proffesional training for 30 days

Facilities
The Department of Plant Protection staff consists of 1 Professor, 2 Assistant Proffessor and 3 Research Assistant.

1 Able to define basic concepts related to Plant Protection, evaluate of idea and data by using scientific methods, and gained occupational and ethical responsibility.
2Able to identify common agents of diseases, pests, weeds, the beneficial organisms and symptoms of abiotic factors in agricultural production areas, determine their incidence and status of loss/benefit
3Able to collect data necessary for solving problems related to plant protection and analyze them, and decide and apply appropriate management of strategies by considering sustainable agriculture, human and environmental health.
4Able to know which control method to use in pest management for protection and sustainable use of natural resources.
5Have current knowledge on “Good Agricultural Practices” and “Organic Agriculture”
6Have ability to follow universal information and communicate with other people in agricultural disciplines
7Understand the importance of life-long learning in their career, improve professional knowledge and skills by utilizing information and communication technologies efficiently.
