History | Bozok University Science and Literature Faculty Ph.D. Program in Biology Department started in 2017-2018 academic year. He is a graduate of the Institute of Natural and Applied Sciences and holds doctoral degrees in Botany, General Biology, Hydrobiology, Molecular Biology, and Zoology. The department is taking doctoral students in accordance with the admission and registration requirements determined by the Institute of Science and Technology for the quotas announced by the professions mentioned in the beginning of the fall semester and spring semester of each semester. | Qualification Awarded | PhD of Science in Biology | Level of Qualification (Short Cycle , First Cycle , Second Cycle, Third Cycle) | Third Cycle | Specific Admission Requirements | In calculating the success grades as well as the criteria determined by YÖK; in doctoral programs; 50% of the ALES score in the relevant score type, 20% of the graduate grade averages for graduates, 20% of the graduate grade averages for master's degree graduates and 30% of the written or oral science exam and the average achievement score must be at least 55 . | Specific Arrangements For Recognition Of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal) | formal | Qualification Requirements and Regulations | Doctoral and artistic qualification students with a master's degree in the relevant field before enrolling in the doctoral program; In order to take the proficiency exam, at least 8 lessons must be taken and achieved on condition that it is not less than 24 credits. PhD and art proficiency students who do not have a master's degree in the relevant field must take and attain at least 16 lessons on condition that they are not less than 48 credits in order to take the proficiency examination. The grade average for graduation should be at least 2.5. | Profile of The Programme | There are five science departments in General Biology, Botany, Zoology, Hydrobiology and Molecular Biology. The main objective of the Biology Department is; Biology with the knowledge and ability to define, explain, implement, decide, teach, and teach the basic principles of biology is to train graduates with all the powers and responsibilities provided by laws as doctoral degrees. | Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples | Graduates of the PhD program successfully; In laboratories, pharmaceutical market, food industry, ministries and similar institutions; In Biology, Teacher, Technical Staff, Research and Development (R & D), Production, Quality Control, Quality Assurance and Sales Marketing, in the schools within the Ministry of National Education, in private schools, They can work in a wide range of different jobs, such as in national parks. | Access to Further Studies | Graduates who have successfully completed the Ph.D. program in biology can apply for an academic position, post-doctoral education (post-doctoral research) or specialist positions in research centers in public institutions in the same or similar fields to higher education institutions in Turkey or abroad. | Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading | In the doctorate program of the Department of Biology, it is necessary to attend the lectures taken by the student and to pass the midterm and final exams made by the lecturer. Students are required to take at least one midterm and a final exam for each course. The achievement grade is 40% for the midterm exam and 60% for the final exam. All exams are evaluated over 100 points. Students who take one of the letter grades (AA, 90-100), (BA, 85-89), (BB, 80-84), (CB, 75-79) and (CC, 70-74) . The seminar course and thesis work are non-credit and evaluated as successful or unsuccessful. The student who completes his PhD dissertation is taken to the thesis examination. The doctoral thesis examination consists of submission of the thesis work and the following question and answer section. After the completion of the thesis examination, the jury decides acceptance, rejection or correction with absolute majority of the thesis. The student must write the results of the thesis related to the thesis writing rules of the related institute and defend his thesis verbally in front of the jury. After the completion of the thesis examination, the jury decides acceptance, rejection or correction of the thesis with absolute majority. | Facilities | There are four classrooms and two laboratories that students can use for theoretical and practical courses. There are also four research laboratories with high-tech devices for use by graduate students. |
