General Description
History
For the first time in the Department of Physical Education and Sports in the 2016-2017 academic year; It started its education activities to accept 24 students for the thesis master's program. As of the 2020-2021 academic year, Non-Thesis Master's and Doctoral programs have started accepting students.
Qualification Awarded
The physical education and sports department aims to convey the essential knowledge and skills required to analyze issues related to physical education and sports, question and research, make predictions, and make correct decisions. During their education, students must carry out the necessary studies within the framework of scientific principles. It aims to design efficient physical education and sports systems, train qualified personnel, introduce developing sports technology opportunities, and develop physical education and sports throughout the country. Thus, the student participating in the educational programs is aimed to be a staff member who knows the structure, functioning, and behavior of the human organism, knows the Turkish sports organization can make comparative evaluations, and has teaching and coaching qualifications. The Department of Physical Education and Sports allows students to access Doctorate (Ph.D.) degrees.

Specific Admission Requirements
To have a master's degree with a thesis in any Department/Program of the Institutes related to Physical Education and Sports and to have a bachelor's degree from any department of the Schools of Physical Education and Sports and the Faculties of Sports Sciences. A Scientific Preparation Program is applied for candidates with a master's degree from faculties other than Sports Sciences. Candidates who will apply It is required to have a master's degree graduation grade point average of at least 2.75 out of 4.00 or an equivalent score, to have taken the Academic Personnel and Graduate Education Exam (ALES), and to have received at least 65 points from one of the Numerical, Verbal, and Equal Weight score types from this exam ( The validity period of the ALES Result Certificate is five (5) years.). For applications to post-master thesis and doctoral programs in basic medical sciences, candidates must have at least 55 points from international foreign language exams other than their native language, which are accepted as equivalent to central foreign language exams accepted by YÖK, or an equivalent score from international foreign language exams whose equivalence is accepted by ÖSYM. They should be. The success grade is calculated by taking into account 50% of the ALES score, 20% of the thesis master's graduation grade, and 30% of the scientific evaluation exam grade (written 15% + oral 15%). Candidates whose evaluation result is below 60 points or who score 60 points or above but whose scientific evaluation exam score is below 50 points are considered unsuccessful. Pre-Selection Criteria and Calculations: If the number of applications is more than 3 (three) times the announced quota, pre-selection will be made, and candidates 3 (three) times the determined quota will participate in the scientific evaluation exam. Preliminary Screening Score: It will be calculated by taking 60% of the ALES score + 40% of the master's degree graduation grade.
Specific Arrangements For Recognition Of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal)
(1) Postgraduate courses taken by a student from domestic or international higher education institutions can be transferred to the program in which the student is registered with the opinion of the advisor, the decision of the Institute department/major art branch board, the proposal of the relevant department/major art branch chairmanship and the decision of the Institute Board of Directors. (2) Except for horizontal transfers, credit courses used to complete an undergraduate/master's program cannot be transferred to another master's/doctoral/art proficiency program. (3) In graduate programs, course transfer is made between equivalent programs. However, for the course to be transferred, the student must be dismissed from the program in which he/she was previously registered. (4) The opinion of the advisor, the decision of the board of the Institute department/major art branch, the opinion of the advisor, the decision of the board of the Institute department/major art, and those who are in the thesis phase of the master's program and those who are successful in the proficiency exam in the doctoral/art proficiency program, among the students who come through horizontal transfer within the scope of the faculty member training program, have their previous courses counted. Qualification Requirements and Regulations
(1) The doctoral program consists of compulsory and elective courses, seminar and specialization field course, doctoral qualification and thesis proposal, and thesis work as stipulated by the relevant department. (2) Ph.D. program, a) For students who have been accepted with a master's degree with thesis, at least 240 ECTS, including at least 7 courses, seminar course, specialization course, proficiency exam, thesis proposal and thesis work, provided that a total of 60 ECTS is not less than 60 ECTS per semester. consists of credit. b) For students who have been accepted with a bachelor's degree, it consists of at least 300 ECTS credits, including fourteen courses, seminars, proficiency exam, thesis proposal and thesis work. (3) Students admitted to the doctoral program with a bachelor's degree can take a maximum of ten of the fourteen required courses in the first two semesters. (4) Seminars to be held by the doctoral student and the courses in which the student is successful in undergraduate and graduate education are not counted towards the doctoral course load and credit. (5) Undergraduate courses are not counted towards course load and doctoral credits.

In line with the educational objectives of the Institute of Health Sciences, the Department of Physical Education and Sports allows students to attain Master's (M.Sc.) and Doctorate (Ph.D.) degrees after a minimum of 2 and 4 years of education. During their education, students must conduct theoretical and experimental studies within the framework of scientific principles.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples
While working in a private or a public institution, graduates of the doctoral program of the Department of Physical Education and Sports can be appointed to higher-level positions in their field of study if the institutional conditions are favourable. In addition to this, in accordance with the relevant legal regulations, a one-level promotion is applied to those who have completed their doctorate program while working as a public servant. Individuals who do not work in any institution or organization are employed in many institutions to be evaluated in various positions.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading
(1) The course success grade is obtained by evaluating the student's success in midterm exams, practical studies, and assignments during the semester and the final exam. The student's success grade is calculated by adding up 40% of the midterm exam or assignments counted in lieu of this exam and 60% of the final exam score. In calculating these ratios, fractions are kept as they are, but in calculating the success grade, fractional numbers are rounded to the nearest whole number. (2) Students are given one of the letter grades specified in the fifth paragraph of this article by the instructor as their end-of-semester course grade for each course, thesis, exhibition, project and similar work they take. (3) Seminar, specialization and thesis study courses and other non-credit courses are evaluated as pass or fail. Students who do not meet the attendance requirement for credit courses are considered absent. (4) The passing grade is at least CB for master's degree and at least BC for doctorate/proficiency in arts. (5) When calculating the equivalents of scores in the quadruple system, YÖK grade conversion table is taken as basis. It can also be done electronically, allowing each candidate to be asked different questions at different times, from a question bank that is classified and stored securely. Issues regarding the preparation of the questions to be asked in the exams, the creation of the question bank, the storage of the exam questions on paper or electronically, and ensuring the security of the question bank and the exam are carried out in accordance with the procedures and principles determined by YÖK.
Graduation Requirements
(1) Except for the time spent in scientific preparation, the doctoral program is eight semesters for those who are accepted with a master's degree with thesis, regardless of whether they are registered for each semester, starting from the semester in which the courses related to the program they are enrolled in, and the maximum completion period is twelve semesters; admission with a bachelor's degree For those who have passed, ten semesters and the maximum completion period is fourteen semesters. (2) The maximum time to successfully complete the credit courses required for the doctoral program is four semesters for those who are accepted with a master's degree with thesis, and six semesters for those who are accepted with a bachelor's degree. Students who cannot successfully complete their credit courses within this period are dismissed from the Institute and the University. (3) A student who successfully completes the credit courses, is successful in the proficiency exam and whose thesis proposal is accepted, but cannot complete the thesis work by the end of the twelve or fourteen semesters specified in the first paragraph, is dismissed from the University. (4) Students who have applied to a doctoral program with a bachelor's degree, who are unable to complete their credit courses and/or thesis work within the maximum period of time, who are not successful in their doctoral thesis, can receive a non-thesis master's diploma upon their request, provided that they have fulfilled the credit load, project and other similar conditions required for the non-thesis master's. is given. (5) A student who fails to successfully complete the credit courses and seminar course in the curriculum at the end of four semesters, or has a letter grade of CB, CC, CD, DC, DD, FF, YZ, or has a course(s) in which he is absent (DZ), is dismissed from the University.
