General Description

| History | | Geological Engineering Department was established in 1994 within the body of Erciyes University Yozgat Engineering-Architecture Faculty. The first student admission to the undergraduate program was made in the 1995-1996 academic year and the first graduates were given in the 1999-2000 academic year. The department joined the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture with the establishment of Bozok University in 2006. In the 2009-2010 academic year, students were admitted to the secondary education and graduate programs. The Department of Geological Engineering, which consists of 4 Departments: General Geology, Applied Geology, Mineral Deposits-Geochemistry and Mineralogy-Petrography, has shown a rapid development in terms of academic staff and laboratory infrastructure since 1994. The academic staff consists of 4 professor, 2 associate professors and 1 Dr. teach It consists of a total of 7 faculty members. To date, a total of 418 undergraduate students have graduated from 17 graduate, primary and secondary education programs. Currently, 10 undergraduate and 23 graduate students continue their education in the Department of Geological Engineering. | | Qualification Awarded | | Doctorate | | Level of Qualification (Short Cycle , First Cycle , Second Cycle, Third Cycle) | | Third Cycle | | Specific Admission Requirements | | Students are accepted to PhD program by doing interview. Number of students to be admitted to graduate programs and the qualifications of the candidate students, are announced before the beginning of each semester. Application requirements and deadlines of this announcement, candidates will be interviewed the place and date specified. Equivalence of bachelor's degrees obtained abroad by Higher Education Council (YÖK) must be approved. Candidates ALES documents by the deadline specified in the notice, graduate diplomas, their success in graduate level courses in reading notes, certified documents indicating graduation grade point averages, director of the institute shall apply together with other information on the record. With the help of advisors, students register for compulsory and elective courses in the relevant discipline; They complete their thesis and make their defense. | | Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples | | Geological Engineers work in the public and private sectors. | | Facilities | | The Department of Geological Engineering provides education and training in the building of the Faculty of Engineering-Architecture, and the infrastructure and laboratory facilities of the department are as follows: Laboratories with different features and equipment for postgraduate and further research (Research Microscope Lab., Thin Section and Polishing Lab., Geochronology Lab., Applied Geology Lab.) is available. |
