Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading |
In the semester courses, a midterm and a final exam are given. Exams are evaluated out of 100 points. Midterm and final exam results of a course are shown with numerical score. The score of the exams that the student has not taken is zero (0). The calculation of the success grade is made according to the following principles. a) The mid-term average score is determined by dividing the sum of the student's scores in the mid-term exams by the number of mid-term exams. The half number to be found in this way is increased to an integer. b) The raw success score is calculated by adding 60% of the semester or year-end exam score to 40% of the midterm exam score average. In the calculation of these ratios, the fractions are kept the same, but in the calculation of the raw success point, the half numbers are rounded up to the whole number. c) Success grades; raw success points are determined by the relative evaluation method, the principles of which are determined by the Senate. Students who successfully complete the semester take the doctoral qualifying exam. The proficiency exam is the measurement of whether the student who has completed his courses and seminar has the depth of scientific research related to the basic topics and concepts in his field and doctoral work. The student is taken to the doctoral proficiency exam in the semester following the semester in which he successfully completes his courses and seminar. A student takes the proficiency exam at most twice a year. When the student will take the proficiency exam is determined by the regulation accepted by the senate. The proficiency exam is given in two parts, written and oral. The student who is successful in the written exam is taken to the oral exam. Exam juries evaluate the success of the student in the written and oral exams and decide with absolute majority whether the student is successful or unsuccessful. In order for a student to be considered successful in the proficiency exam, he/she must have obtained at least seventy-five points separately for each of the written and oral exams. |

In order for a student to graduate, he/she must prepare his/her thesis together with his/her advisor and have at least one scientific study, provided that it is produced from a doctoral thesis in order to be able to defend his/her doctoral thesis. |
