General Description
History
The Department of Basic Islamic Sciences consists of the disciplines of Tafsir, Hadith, Islamic Law, Kalam, History of Islamic Sects, Sufism, Arabic Language and Rhetoric. Doctorate level education is given in each branch of science within the Department of Basic Islamic Sciences.
Qualification Awarded
This department is subject to the 240 ECTS credits third stage degree system for the Basic Islamic Sciences Department Doctorate Program in higher education. When the program is successfully completed and the program qualifications are met, a PhD degree is obtained in the field of Basic Islamic Sciences.

Specific Admission Requirements
1- Master's diploma, 2- Having the required score from the Graduate Entrance Exam (ALES), (validity period of 5 years is required, Verbal Weighted and must be at least 55 points.) ALES certificate for foreign students and Internationally valid documents (GRE, GMAT etc.) is valid and score is not required. 3- Having sufficient foreign language skills (at least 55 for YDS and YÖKDİL (English, French, German, Arabic), at least 55 for TOEFL IBT, at least 134 for TOEFL CBT, at least 453 for TOEFL PBT and other equivalent exams Foreign students must have a foreign language exam result of at least 55 in English, French, German, Arabic and bring a Turkish Proficiency Certificate (except for those studying in Turkey)
Specific Arrangements For Recognition Of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal)
The provisions of the “Regulation on the Principles of Transfer between Associate Degree and Undergraduate Degree Programs in Higher Education Institutions, Double Major, Minor and Inter-Institutional Credit Transfers” are applied.
Qualification Requirements and Regulations
A PhD in Basic Islamic Sciences is awarded to students who have taken at least 24 credits from the courses available for the doctorate program and successfully completed all of them, at least 75 out of 100, and successfully defended their thesis in the relevant field in front of a selected jury.
Profile of The Programme
The aim of the Basic Islamic Sciences Ph.D. program is to train researchers who can produce high-level knowledge in related disciplines, conduct research and analysis at national and international level, make original contributions to the field with the analysis and synthesis ability they have gained, and share the results they have reached with their academic stakeholders at national and international level.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples
Those who have completed the PhD program of the Department of Basic Islamic Sciences can fulfill their duties in the field of education and religious services in a more equipped way, as well as have the opportunity to work as a Research Assistant, Lecturer or Lecturer in universities.
Access to Further Studies
Candidates who have successfully completed their doctorate education can apply to this position when the associate professor position is opened through YÖK, and after the evaluation and interview stages of the universities, they can move from assistant professor to associate professor.
Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading
Although each student must register for the courses at the beginning of the semester, they must attend at least 70% of the courses in order to take the final exam. Students are subjected to at least one final exam for each course. All exams are evaluated over 100 points. It is obligatory to get at least 75 points for the Ph.D. from the final exam. Students who get AA, BA, BB and CB letter grades from a course are considered successful in that course.
Graduation Requirements
In order to successfully complete the program, it is necessary to pass all the courses available in the program (240 ECTS equivalent), to pass the proficiency exam successfully, to successfully pass the vocational education courses, to publish an article in a peer-reviewed journal and to successfully complete the thesis.

Facilities
There are 2 Professors, 7 Associate Professors, 13 Doctors, 9 Lecturers and 14 Research Assistants in the Faculty of Theology. The faculty consists of two main buildings. In these buildings, there are administrative and technical service units, classrooms, seminar halls, study halls, teaching staff rooms, dining hall, canteen and cafeteria, religious music room, library and data processing center. In addition, the Practice Mosque of the Faculty of Theology has been allocated for the use of our university and all the people, especially the faculty students and teachers.
