Objectives of the Course
The aims of this course can be defined as understanding of importance of medicinal and aromatic plants in the World and Turkey, revealing its role in the World and Turkey trade, introducing of this plants group, teaching the general cultivation techniques, introducing particular economic importance for Turkey and teaching culture of medicinal and aromatic plants.

11. The importance of medicinal and aromatic plants in agriculture of World and Turkey.
22. To be able to learn especially agronomy of medicinal and aromatic plants more than other field crops plants.
33. To be able to obtain information about general characteristics of medicinal and aromatic plants.
44. To be able to obtain information about ecological requirements techniques of growing, drying and store in this plants.
55. To be able to give information to the producers about providing material, production process and about marketing.
66. To be able to bring new medicinal and aromatic plants in regional production pattern.

Course Contents
Theoretical: Historical development, importance, ecological requirements, general cultivation techniques, drying and storage process, effective materials and their variability of medicinal and aromatic plants are pointed out in general part of the course. Spreading areas of Apiaceae, Lamiaceae, Asteraceae families and other plant characteristic of botany, content of main components, the way of consumption are explained in special part of the course

6Storage and drying process of medicinal and aromatic plants, introducing of drugs.
7Secondary plant materials and their variability.
8Mid-term examination
9Essential oils and their characteristics.
10Importance of some plants belong to Apiaceae family (dill, coriander, fennel, anis), characteristics of herb, technique of agronomy and uses of them.
11Importance of some plants belong to Apiaceae family (daisy,fleaworth), characteristics of herb, technique of agronomy and uses of them
12Importance of some plants belong to Lamiaceae family (mint, oregano) characteristics of herb, technique of agronomy and uses of locality.
13Introducing of sage plant which belong to Lamiacea family and some medicinal and aromatic plants belong to other important families (black cumin) and technique of agronomy.
