Objectives of the Course
To prepare students for scientific discussion of the contemporary perception and needs which effects the place and role of hadith as a source; To enable students to think new approaches and interpretation for the criticisms of hadith coming from different cultures; to prepare them to evaluate and discuss the ways and methods of "the custom of social hadith interpretation" for creating contemporary examples

Course Contents
The place of hadith in Islam; the concepts of Qur'an - Sunnah and verse - hadith and their relationship Hadith as a source (Exegesis, Theology, Islamic Law, Islamic History and hadiths) The problem of trust to the sources of hadiths The problem of methodology for reflecting the messages of hadiths for the contemporary questions a. Choosing the proper hadith texts b. To see the different versions of hadiths and bringing them together for comprehensive evaluation c. samples for the problem of translation and interpretation Some problems related to using modern instruments (Hadith Cds) Choosing and publishing hadith about the intellectual, scientific and social problems Hadith publication and its problems in Turkey Problems faced in formal and informal hadith teaching The question of memorizing and writing hadiths The problem of benefiting from hadiths in religious services Disregarding hadith partially or completely and being contend with books The question of trust to the texts presented as hadiths in religious texts Some problems faced in hadith reseraches Hadiths used as basis of wrong approaches and opposition to hadiths; The question of compatibility of hadith to scientific data.
