General Description
History
The Civil Defense and Firefighting Program was established in 2021, with the approval of the Council of Higher Education (YÖK), under the Property and Security department of Yozgat Bozok University Yozgat Vocational School. It started to accept its first students as of 2021
Qualification Awarded
Students who graduate from the Civil Defense and Firefighting Program are given an 'associate degree diploma'.

Registration with YKS (Higher Education Institutions Exam): Being a high school or equivalent vocational school graduate and having the right to register as a result of the ÖSYS exam.

Our lessons are carried out in two different ways, remotely and face-to-face.
Qualification Requirements and Regulations
To pass all the courses in the course plan with a total of 120 ECTS credits. Have a GPA of at least 2.00 out of 4.00. 30 working days (5 ECTS credits) to complete the Internship. In order for each student to register for the courses at the beginning of the semester and take the final exam, they must attend at least 70% of the courses and at least 80% of the practices. Students are subjected to at least one midterm and final exam for each course. The contribution of the midterm exam (the scores obtained from measurement tools such as homework, laboratory exam, quiz, etc.) to the success grade is 40%, and the contribution of the final exam is 60%. All exams are evaluated over 100 points. In order to graduate, the student must complete a course load of 120 ECTS and have a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.0.
Profile of The Programme
To be able to use firefighting vehicles and equipment and to perform basic maintenance To be able to explain the administrative structure of the fire department and the legal regulations and regulations to which it is bound. To be able to respond to the fire with the right extinguishing material and method by recognizing the fire classes and their specific hazards. To be able to explain fire extinguishing materials, chemical contents and usage areas. To be able to conduct research to determine the cause of the fire after the fire, to collect evidence and evaluate the findings. To be able to perform rescue operations by making use of the tools and equipment used for rescue purposes. To be able to determine the measures to be taken for fire safety inside and outside the building, to show and apply with the help of technical drawings. Being able to identify natural (sea, lake, stream, etc.) and unnatural (water reservoir, hydrant, etc.) water resources on maps and sketches and draw sketches showing these resources. To be able to make intervention organizations for indoor, outdoor and special fires. To be able to make and manage planning and organizations for disasters and emergencies To understand the importance of qualities such as physical competence, morality, honesty and respect that firefighters should have and to give confidence to people To be able to identify the hazards of chemical substances and intervention methods
Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples
Those who successfully complete the civil defense and firefighting program can work in fire departments and fire departments as firefighters, firefighting sergeants and fire chiefs. Civil defense and firefighting program graduates can work as technicians and search and rescue technicians in the provincial disaster emergency directorate and provincial disaster emergency search and rescue unit directorates. Those who successfully complete the civil defense and firefighting program can take part in and manage emergency teams in the private sector. The team that provides flight safety at airports in our country within the body of the State Airports Authority consists of graduates of the Civil Defense and Firefighting program.
Access to Further Studies
Those who successfully complete the associate degree program in the Civil Defense and Firefighting Program can continue to the following 4-year undergraduate programs if they get sufficient points in the Vertical Transfer Exam held every year by the Student Selection and Placement Center: Emergency Aid and Disaster Management Social service In addition, students who graduate from this program can take the difference courses and make vertical transfers to the following open education undergraduate programs; Labor Economics and Industrial Relations Economy Public administration International relations Business Hospitality Management Public relations
Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading
1) Exams are evaluated out of 100 points. Midterm and final exam results of a course are shown with numerical scores. The score for exams that the student does not take is zero. 2) Midterm exam score average is the weighted average of the scores the student received in the midterm exams. The decimal number to be found in this way; If it is 0.5 or above, it is rounded up, if it is below 0.5, it is rounded down. 3) The raw success score of the course is calculated by taking into account the weighted average of the grades obtained from the midterm exam, application and other activities related to education in the other semester/year, if any, and the final or make-up grade, if any. The raw success score contribution percentages of the course are determined by the instructor of the relevant course at the beginning of the semester and are announced to the students by entering the student information system within the first two weeks of the relevant semester/year courses at the latest. However, the contribution of mid-term/year evaluations to the success grade is less than 30% and more than 60%; The contribution of semester/year-end evaluations to the success grade cannot be less than 40% and more than 70%. In applied or special evaluation courses where only the final exam is held, the contribution of the final exam to the success grade is 100%. 4) Issues regarding the evaluation of courses conducted via distance education are determined by the Senate. 5) The student's course success is determined by one of the letter grades by the instructor teaching the course, taking into account the general success level of all students taking that course, the arithmetic averages and statistical distributions of the student's raw success score. 6) Letter grades and coefficients for success levels are stated below: Success Grade Coefficient AA 4.00 AB 3.70 BA 3.30 BB 3.00 BC 2.70 CB 2.30 CC 2.00 CD 1.70 DC 1, 30 DD 1.00 FF 0.00 7) To be successful in a course, the passing grade must be at least DD or above. AA, AB, BA, BB, BC, CB and CC grades are unconditionally successful grades. CD, DC and DD grades are conditionally successful grades. In order for a student to be successful in a course in which he received a CD, DC or DD grade, his GPA must be at least 2.00. a) MU grade is used to exempt students who came to the University through vertical or horizontal transfer and graduated before 2/5/2014, and in cases where the course for which exemption will be granted is indicated as Satisfactory/Pass/Pass/Exempt in the transcript. b) PT grade is given to students who are continuing courses that are not included in the grade point average. c) DZ grade is given to students who fail because they cannot meet the course attendance requirement or course application requirements. FF grade is used in GPA calculation. ç) YT grade is given to students who are successful/satisfactory in courses that are not deemed appropriate to be included in the grade point average, with the decision of the relevant academic unit board and the approval of the Senate. d) YZ grade is given to students who are unsuccessful/unsatisfactory in courses that are not deemed appropriate to be included in the grade point average, with the decision of the relevant academic unit board and the approval of the Senate. e) KL grade is given for courses removed from the program. f) ÇK grade is used for the course that the student withdraws from with the approval of his/her advisor within 3 weeks after the add-drop week. Students take 1 course in a semester; A maximum of 4 courses during the education period

Facilities
Our program has sufficient equipment to be able to perform applied lessons frequently. The education, training and research activities of our program are provided by 4 Lecturers. Educational services are carried out in Yozgat Central district, and the service building has 24 classrooms, 1 conference hall, 1 library, 1 cafeteria and 1 canteen. Students in our program can use the internet free of charge throughout the day.
