FACULTY OF ARTS AND SCIENCES - DEPARTMENT OF PHYSICS - Lisans

General Description
History
The Department of Physics was established in 1994 within the Yozgat Faculty of Science and Literature of Erciyes University. Later, on March 01, 2006, with the establishment of Bozok University as a new university with Law No. 5467 on March 01, 2006, the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Faculty of Engineering and Architecture, Faculty of Agriculture, Faculty of Health, Vocational School and Akdağmadeni Vocational School within Cumhuriyet University were affiliated to Yozgat Bozok University. The basic educational philosophy of the department is to provide a vocational education that is compatible with the current scientific and technological conditions with an infrastructure supported practically by laboratory applications in the field of Physics. Laboratory applications are considered an important part of the education program.

Specific Admission Requirements
For B.S. (Bachelor of Science), students are admitted to the physics department through the Higher Education Transition Examination (YGS) conducted by ÖSYM. Each year 30 students are admitted.
Specific Arrangements For Recognition Of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal)
Formal
Qualification Requirements and Regulations
The normal duration is 4 years. To obtain a bachelor's degree in physics, students must take and complete all the required courses and have a GPA of at least 2.00 out of 4.00. A total of 240 ECTS must be completed, including 60 ECTS of elective courses.
Profile of The Programme
There are six sub-departments: Atomic and Molecular Physics, General Physics, Solid State Physics, Mathematical Physics, Nuclear Physics, and High Energy and Plasma Physics Department laboratories are equipped to meet the needs of students.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples
Those who graduate from the Department of Physics at the end of four years of undergraduate education can work in various business areas with the title of "Physicist". The majority of students who prefer basic sciences prefer to pursue an academic career. For this purpose, students can do Master's and Doctorate studies if they meet the application requirements of the Institutes of Science and High Technology of the universities. In the meantime, they can also work as research assistants if they meet the necessary conditions. They can also work as a research assistant at any university within the framework of the YÖK Faculty Member Training Program. They can continue their Master's and Doctorate programs at a different university of their choice. They can do their Master's and Doctorate studies abroad with MEB and YÖK scholarships. They can work as researchers or civil servants in organizations such as the Turkish Atomic Energy Authority, TUBITAK (Çekmece Nuclear Research Center, Marmara Research Center, BİLGEM), State Institute of Statistics, Türk Telekom, Aselsan, Roketsan, Turkish Standards Institute. They can work in radiology departments of hospitals (if they have a Master's degree in Medical Physics), quality control laboratories of companies, computer companies, sales and service companies of technical devices, organizations working in the field of electronics and industry, and banks. Those who participate in the Occupational Safety Expertise training and are successful in the exam held as a result of this process can work in the following fields
Access to Further Studies
Candidates who have completed their undergraduate education can transfer to graduate programs (MSc and PhD) by obtaining valid grades in ALES and foreign language exams.
Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading
Students are subjected to one midterm and one final exam for each course. The midterm exam contribution to the success grade is 40% and the final exam contribution is 60%.

Facilities
In the Department of Physics, an up-to-date and contemporary education is provided with the aim and goal of realizing the technologies that are newly developing in the world and rapidly adapting to our lives. In this context, in addition to theoretical knowledge, courses such as General Physics Laboratory, Electricity and Magnetism Laboratory, Modern Physics Laboratory, Electronics laboratory, Optics and Waves Laboratory, and Computer Laboratory are also given to students to improve their practical and experimental education.

Key Learning Outcomes
1On successful completion of the module, students will be able to: Have theoretical and practical knowledge at an advanced level acquired through contemporary course books, practical aids and other scientific sources in a field of study in addition to that acquired in high school level and use this knowledge effectively to solve problems encountered in their field.
2Examine concepts and ideas in a field of study with scientific methods, study and interpret data, identify problems and produce solutions based on inquiry and evidence.
3Have statistical and abstract thought stracture, correlate concrete events with them and produce solutions.
4Have basic information about computer software and hardware systems.
5Have information about informatics and communication technology also learn how to use them effectively in the studies of the field.
6Learn to think systematically and logically, evaluate the self-acquired knowledge and skills with a critical eye, determine learning needs and manage one’s own learning.
7Show skills like acting independently, using initiative and creativity in the environment related to their field or in solution process of encountered unexpectable, complex problems.
8Express their ideas and views on his/her field effectively using oral and written presentations, share their opinions on various topics and suggestions for solutions to problems supported with quantitative and qualitative data with people who have or have not an expertise in the field.
