General Description
History
Department of Sociology was opened in 2014, affiliated with Bozok University Faculty of Science and Letters. The Department of Sociology has started to accept students since the 2015-2016 academic year.
Qualification Awarded
Graduates who successfully complete the program by meeting all requirements receive the "Bachelor's Degree in Sociology" degree and sociologist title.

Specific Admission Requirements
The right to accept and register to the Department of Sociology is gained as a result of the TYT and AYT exams held by ÖSYM. Entry to undergraduate programs depends solely on the scores obtained from these exams. As students gain points as a result of the exam, they list their department preferences and fill out their preference forms at the Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM). After all the application options, ÖSYM groups the application according to the score type, ranks the scores from highest to lowest, lists all available programs according to the preferred score type and places you in one of the preferred programs. Student admission to the program is shown in detail under the heading "Student Admission" in the About "Bozok University" section.
Specific Arrangements For Recognition Of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal)
"Regulations Regarding the Transition Between the Programs Associated with Undergraduate and Undergraduate Levels in Higher Education Institutions, Double Major, Minor, Minor and Institutional Credit Transfer Principles" apply. The Faculty Board decides in accordance with the relevant laws and regulations.
Qualification Requirements and Regulations
Successfully completing all courses specified in the Sociology Department Curriculum on a semester basis (equivalent to a total of 240 ECTS) and having a weighted grade point average of at least 2.00 out of 4.00 are the qualification requirements for graduation.

There are 4 departments within the Department of Sociology: Applied Sociology, Sociology of Institutions, Sociometry, General Sociology and Methodology. The main goal of the Department of Sociology is; To train qualified sociologists and researchers by providing an academic and intellectual environment that will help students gain the best possible professional knowledge, skills and experience in theory and method-related issues and sociological research.

Access to Further Studies
Students who have successfully completed this program may apply for masters and, in some cases, doctoral programs in Sociology or departmental fields. According to Graduate Education National Regulations, students to graduate programs, Selection achievement levels and student in the graduate program and Placement Center (ÖSYM) made by the Academic Personnel and Postgraduate Education Entrance Exam scores they received in the relevant field are accepted basis. In this context, national regulations and regulations set by the senate of each university will determine the weight of the ALES results in the overall evaluation of candidates. Depending on the regulations of the institutions, some level of proficiency in the foreign language is also required to be admitted to some of the departments referred to.
Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading
Each student must register for courses at the beginning of the semester and must have attended at least 70% of the courses in order to take the end-of-term exam. Midterm exams and final exams are held at predetermined times. The university's examination, measurement and evaluation regulations are determined by the University Senate and the Department of Sociology is subject to this regulation. The details given for each course in the program include detailed evaluation methods and an explanation of the second midterm exam. Students are subjected to at least one midterm exam, mid-year activities and final exam for each course. The contribution of the midterm exam to the success grade can be determined by the faculty member teaching the course. The impact of mid-year activities on the end-of-year success score is generally 40%, and the contribution of the final exam is 60%. All exams are evaluated over 100 points. Students who receive one of the letter grades (AA), (AB), (BA), (BB), (BC), (CB), (CC) from a course are deemed to have passed that course. (CD), (DC) and (DD) grades are conditionally successful grades. In order for the student to be successful in a course in which he received CD, DC and DD grades, his GPA must be at least 2.00.
Graduation Requirements
The undergraduate program of the Department of Sociology is a 4 year program consisting of 8 semesters each with 30 ECTS credits. An ECTS refers to the student's 30-hour workload for each semester. To successfully complete the program, it is necessary to pass all the courses available in the program (240 ECTS credits), obtain a weighted average of at least 2.00 out of 4.00 and successfully complete the thesis. Graduates who have successfully completed the program by satisfying all the requirements are awarded the "Bachelor Degree in Sociology". They will have the title "Sociologist".
