History | Bozok University is a state university established in Yozgat with the number 5467 dated 1 March 2006. In the Faculty of Medicine, established in 2007, the education started in 2016. The education period is six years and the programme is annual. The achievement of a total of 360 ECTS credits is required for qualification as a medical doctor. | Profile of The Programme | In Bozok University, Faculty of Medicine, courses are taught in a specific order that relates basic medical sciences and clinical sciences to each other.
In the first, second and third semesters of the Faculty of Medicine of Bozok University, all laboratory studies of the students are carried out in the multidisciplinary laboratories except the anatomical dissections. In addition, "Good Practice" programs are being implemented in the first, second and third semesters in order to give the medical students the skills and attitude required for good medicine. In addition, The faculty has adopted ‘active learning’ based on problems.
Clinical internships take place during the fourth and fifth semesters of medical education. The services include seminars in addition to the work on the patients, clinical training and classes. The sixth year is the internship period before graduation.
| Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples | In order to complete the two-year obligatory work for the government, the graduates of Faculty of Medicine enter a kura organized by the Turkish Ministry of Health and are recruited in the public health units at the primary health care or in the emergency services of governmental hospitals. A Medical Residency Examination (TUS) is held twice a year and the graduates who are successful, are recruited in the research and education hospitals of the universities or the Turkish Ministry of Health. | Access to Further Studies | Graduates with the Medical Doctor degree may apply to Doctor of Philosophy programs in the basic medical sciences and Residency Training programs in the internal and surgical medical sciences. | Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading |
Examinations, assessment and grading are held according to the regulations arranged by the University Senate. During the preclinical years (first three years), theoretical and practical examinations after each committee and final examination at the end of that academic year must be taken and passed in order to continue to the next term. In the 1st, 2nd and 3rd years, passing score of that year is calculated as taking the sum of the 60% of the average of the committee scores and 40% of the final examination. The student must have a score of 60 out of 100 in order to pass that year. Each internship at any of the clinical departments during the fourth and fifth years is accepted as one course. Practical and theoretical examinations are held after each course. The passing score of that independant course is 60 out of 100. During the sixth year, score of each course is assessed as succesfull/unsuccesfull by evaluating the general medical accretion, ability to prepare and present a research project, task responsibility, communication skills, ability to prepare and follow the patient, psychosocial situation, ability to perform medical intervention and field working skills after the end of each internship of the relevant course. | Graduation Requirements | Successful completion of 360 ECTS credits for a six-year educational period is required for graduation. Modern learning facilities of the faculty include clinical skills laboratories fully-equipped with manikins and simulators; integrated laboratories for a multidisciplinary interactive education; the library; 24-hour open emergency services, several health centers outside the university serving as education and research districts for public health education. |
