In our department, there are General Journalism, Press and Broadcast Techniques, and Press and Broadcast Management Departments. The main purpose of the journalism department is to provide our students with a basic social science formation, to teach theoretical approaches to different fields of journalism, and to enable them to acquire professional skills that can combine this theoretical knowledge with practice. In this respect, we provide a journalism training aimed at combining theoretical and practical education. The theoretical journalism education given in our faculty aims to provide our students with up-to-date general cultural knowledge about the world and their country, which a journalist should have. Our curriculum is designed to enable our students to establish the relationship between social, economic and political developments and the field of journalism, and to understand the social function of journalism and the responsibility of journalists against social problems. Our students graduate with a command of the constitutional, legal and international framework that shapes social life and thus the roles and responsibilities of the media. They learn to look critically at the problems of the media industry. For this reason, sociology, political science, political history, law and economic sciences are also included in our curriculum at the basic level, as well as theoretical knowledge of communication science.
