General Description
History
The Department of Midwifery in the Faculty of Health Sciences was first opened as an undergraduate program in the 2017-2018 academic year within the School of Health and started its educational activities by recruiting students in the same year. With the Law published in the Official Gazette on 26 November 2017, the School of Health was closed and turned into the Faculty of Health Sciences. With the transformation of the School of Health into the Faculty of Health Sciences in 2017, the Department of Midwifery continues its education and training activities within the Faculty of Health Sciences.
Qualification Awarded
The program language of the Midwifery Department is Turkish. A midwifery undergraduate diploma is given to students who successfully complete their four-year undergraduate education, all the courses available in the curriculum (for a total of 240 ECTS) and achieve a weighted grade point average of at least 2.0 out of 4.00.

Specific Admission Requirements
Yozgat Bozok University Midwifery Department accepts students who have a high school diploma and score numerically according to the results of the TYT and TYT exams conducted by the Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM). From the 2nd year 3rd semester to the midwifery department, both vertical transfer (for associate degree graduates) and horizontal transfer students (from midwifery departments of other universities) can enroll as well. These transitions are regulated by the directive prepared by Yozgat Bozok University. Students can transfer between diploma programs of different higher education institutions or diploma programs within the same higher education institution, but within the framework of the pre-announced number and transition conditions.
Specific Arrangements For Recognition Of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal)
Students are accepted from institutions whose equivalence is accepted by the Higher Education Council of the Republic of Turkey. Vocational School graduates who are successful in the Vertical Transfer Exam can be accepted to continue their education to receive a bachelor's degree. The courses that these students will take from the midwifery department are determined by the relevant department, taking into account the courses they have taken and succeeded from the vocational high school they have graduated from, and the adjustment is made.

As explained in the Yozgat Bozok University Education and Examination Regulations, students must be successful by getting a passing grade from all the courses in the curriculum of the relevant department, including the applied courses
Profile of The Programme
With the understanding of modern education, it is capable of detecting pregnancy and prenatal follow-up, giving birth, providing postpartum services, providing postpartum-newborn care, providing mother-child health services and family planning services, developed critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and cultural background and knowledge. have appropriate communication behaviors, follow current practices in the field of health, can take responsibility as a member of the health team with the knowledge and skills they have acquired, can plan, can access new information in the field of midwifery in connection with lifelong learning, comply with laws and professional ethical principles, respectful, is to train midwives who are sensitive, have an advanced world view.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples
They can work in public hospitals, university-affiliated research and practice hospitals, family health and community health centers, and private hospitals. They can work as academicians in the midwifery department of universities.
Access to Further Studies
Candidates who have successfully completed their midwifery undergraduate education can apply to graduate programs in their field or related fields, provided that they get a valid grade from the ALES exam and have sufficient scores from the English language exam determined by the higher education board for graduate education.
Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading
The way of grading and evaluation is explained in the course information package for each course in the curriculum. . These evaluations are made according to the Yozgat Bozok University Education and Examination Regulations.
Graduation Requirements
In order for students to graduate from the undergraduate program, they must successfully complete a total of 240 ECTS credit course units in the curriculum and have a GPA of 2.0 or above. They must also complete the graduation criteria. Graduation criteria to graduate from the Midwifery Department: • Counseling pregnant women, including at least 100 antenatal examinations, • To care and follow up at least 40 pregnant women, • At least 40 births by the student, • Breech should participate actively in birth. If breech birth is not possible, simulation should be performed, • To care and monitor 40 women at risk during pregnancy or childbirth or postpartum period, • To monitor and care for at least 100 puerperant women (postnatal mothers) and healthy newborn babies (including examination), • Observing and caring for newborn babies, including babies who require special care, premature, post-term, low birth weight or sick babies.

Facilities
There are 3 Associate Professor, 1 doctor lecturer, 1 lecturer and 1 research assistant working in the department. There are 2 skill labs (1 Basic Principles and Applications Skill Lab and 1 Birth Science Skill Lab) belonging to the department. As the application area; Yozgat Bozok University Medical Faculty Hospital and City Hospital affiliated to the Ministry of Health are used.
