General Description
History
The Department of Occupational Health and Safety was established in accordance with the decision taken by the Executive Council of the Higher Education Council in 2016 under the direction of Yozgat Bozok University. Our department has started to receive students undergraduate and jump to undergraduate programs in 2017-2018 academic year and its education program still continues affiliated to Yozgat Bozok University, Akdagmadeni School of Health.

Specific Admission Requirements
The right to admit and register in the Occupational Health and Safety department is earned with the YKS (Higher Education Institutions Examination) exams made by OSYM. Access to undergraduate programs is only based on the scores from these exams. The students send their preference forms to the Student Selection and Placement Center (OSYM) via the system by sorting their preferences according to the scores they get in the exam result. OSYM is an institution affiliated to YOK. OSYM takes all applications, groups applicants according to points, places scores from highest to lowest, lists all existing programs according to preferred score, and places students in one of their preferred programs. Documents required for registration; 1- High school and equivalent school diploma, 2- Placement result certificate made by OSYM. In addition, students who meet the requirements of the Horizontal and Vertical Transition Regulations gain the right to admission and register.

In order to obtain a degree in Occupational Health and Safety, students must successfully complete all of the compulsory and elective courses required in the program and obtain a CGPA of at least 2.00 out of 4.00 in the overall grade average.
Profile of The Programme
Currently there is a Department of Occupational Health and Safety as a basic science department in the department. The main objective of the Occupational Health and Safety Department; To train graduates who have all the authority and responsibilities provided by law as a graduate of Occupational Health and Work Safety with the knowledge and ability to define, explain, implement, decide and teach the basic concepts of Occupational Health and Occupational Safety
Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples
Students who will graduate from this program will be able to be employed as "Occupational Health and Safety Professional" in all institutions and organizations in public and private sectors. In addition, according to current legislation, Occupational Health and Safety professionals can obtain "Class C Occupational Safety Specialist" certification if they are successful in OHS exams made by OSYM. In order to obtain this certificate, it is sufficient to enter directly to the OSYM exam without joining any training program. In addition, according to the current legislation, if the graduates of Occupational Health and Safety program have a Master's Degree in their field, it is possible to obtain a "Class B Occupational Safety Specialist" certificate if they is successful in the OSYM’s relevant examination without participating in any training program. If these certificates are operated in the public and private sector without any contradiction to the relevant legislation, the certification level can be increased if the necessary criteria are provide. Raising the number of certifications is also important because of will expand the working fields of young graduates. Bachelor's graduates who have successfully completed 4 years of study in the field of OHS will be able to work in the expert status in the public. In the private sector and in the public sector, the OHS Expert requirement is met by the persons who have already received the Certificate of Specialization as a result of the OHS exams made by OSYM after the certification training given by the Special Education Institutions. It is thought that certification programs may be removed or restrained in the future if the necessary employment can be met due to the widespread of Occupational Health and Safety Departments in private and state universities. In such a case, front of the Occupational Health and Safety graduates will be further opened. The public institutions that department graduates can employ: Ministries, Atomic Energy Institution, State Personnel Presidency, Turkey Statistical Institute, the General Directorate of State Archives, Ministry of Justice, Judicial Register and Statistics, National Library, Prime Ministry Customization Administration, Competition Authority, State Theaters, Undersecretariat of Treasury, Court of Accounts, Council of State, Supreme Court, Constitutional Court, Presidency, Higher Education Council, Central Bank, Capital Markets Board, Radio and Television Supreme Council, Presidency of Religious Affairs, Social Security Institution, Banking Regulation and Supervision Board, TRT, Turkish Electricity Administration, Turksat, Aselsan, TAI, HAVELSAN, Airports, SPO, Municipalities, Provincial Bank, Special Administrations, etc. The private institutions that department graduates can employ: After graduation, a wide field of study in all fields of the private sector expects the department studentsBecause of are obliged of OHS Professional employment according to their hazard levels and the employees' number of workplaces, we can give examples of employment in all fields based on production, management and marketing that operate in the private sector. Students graduated from undergraduate program of the Occupational Health and Safety Department; will take an active role in the field of Occupational Health and Safety, and will take part in making the employee healthy and safe.
Access to Further Studies
Candidates who have successfully completed their undergraduate education can study at graduate programs, provided they have a valid grade in the ALES exam and have sufficient knowledge of English.
Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading
Each student must register for the courses at the beginning of the semester and must attend at least 70% of the courses and 80% of the practices in order to take the final exam. Students are subjected to at least one midterm and final exam for each course. The contribution of the midterm exam to the success grade is determined by the lecturer, and the contribution of the final exam is determined in the same way. All exams are evaluated over 100 points. Students who get one of the letter grades (AA), (BA), (BB), (CB), (CC) in a course are deemed to have succeeded in that course. (DC) and (DD) grades are conditionally successful grades. In order for the student to be successful in a course in which he received a DC or DD grade, his/her GPA must be at least 2.00.
Graduation Requirements
Students who have successfully completed 45 compulsory courses of 180 ECTS and 60 ECTS elective courses in a total of 8 semesters, and who have achieved a weighted grade point average of at least 2.00 out of 4.00 from a total of 240 ECTS courses are awarded a bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety.

Facilities
Our department is continuing education activities with 1 Occupational Health and Safety Laboratory, 1 Computer Laboratory and 5 Classroom Halls. Student laboratories have become equipped with computers and OHS equipment. Various seminars related to OHS practices are organized by our academic staff in our university. We have a computer lab with 50 computers in department. The current laboratory is used within the weekly course schedule of computer labs, which are planned every semester in all the computer-supported application courses of all our programs. There are also 1 Occupational Health and Safety Laboratory, and 5 classrooms belonging to the department. In School, there are a canteen with an area of 302 m2; A cafeteria with a total area of 269,5 m2, a closed sports hall with an area of 227,5 m2 and a conference room with a capacity of 221 people; female and male student dormitories affiliated to the Loan and Dormitory Institution adjacent to the school border for the housing need. In the schoolyard, there is a football area, indoor gym for playing basketball and volleyball in the existing building.

5Gains the ability to OHS in Maintenance and repair, explosive atmospheres and its hazards, have adequate equipment related to all risk factors in the working environment.
6Gains the ability to have current legal regulations in the field and have knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and legislation in previous years.
7Gains the ability to interpret and evaluate data, to identify and analyze problems, and to develop evidence-based solutions using the basic knowledge and skills gained in the field.
