Specific Arrangements For Recognition Of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal) |
The courses to be taken and exempted by the student whose transfer is finalized are determined by the decision of the Department Board, the proposal of the Head of the Department and the decision of the Institute Administrative Board. |
Qualification Requirements and Regulations |
A master's program with thesis consists of a total of at least 120 ECTS credits, including at least eight courses including seminar courses, thesis study and specialization courses, provided that an education period is not less than 60 ECTS credits. |
Profile of The Programme |
There are 6 disciplines within the Department: Analysis and Function Theory, Algebra and Number Theory, Geometry, Fundamentals of Mathematics and Logic, Topology and Applied Mathematics. The mission of the Department of Mathematics is to train qualified researchers who adopt a scientific approach, care about ethical values, have analytical thinking, have the potential to conduct research at national and international level, can produce solutions, use their knowledge and skills for the benefit of humanity, participatory, innovative, self-confident. The vision of the Department of Mathematics is to be an innovative and dynamic department that is recognized nationally and internationally with its qualified education and research activities, contributes to the scientific development of the country, aims for quality-oriented development, is reliable, has a voice in its field, adheres to scientific and ethical values. |
Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples |
Mathematicians can work as instructors in higher education institutions or as teachers in secondary education institutions. In addition to these, they can work as computer programmers in public or private organizations such as DIE, MTA, TEK, DSİ. In addition, mathematicians are needed in the fields of information processing, statistics, business-trade, social and basic sciences research. |
Access to Further Studies |
Students holding a Master's degree are eligible to apply for admission to Phd degree programs if they satisfy all application requirements. |
Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading |
Each course is assessed via a mid-term exam and a final exam with contributions of 40% and 60%, respectively. Those students who take one of the grades AA,AB, BA, BB, BC or CB pass. |
Graduation Requirements |
Students who are successful in at least 7 courses (120 ECTS), seminars, specialization courses and thesis studies are entitled to graduate. |

Facilities |
There are 4 classrooms in our Department. At the same time, there is a Faculty Student Computer Laboratory, which is 80 m2 in size and has 40 highly equipped computers that can be used by the students of the Department. In addition, there is a projection device in two classrooms and a computer laboratory of the Department. There are a total of 784 books in the library of our university related to our Department. |
