General Description
History
Department of Turkish Language and Literature was established in 1996 as a part of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences in Yozgat, Erciyes University. The Department continues to operate as attached to the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Bozok University since 2006. The Department received its first students in 1996-1997 Academic Year and it has also been receiving student to evening education since 2008-2009 Academic Year.

Specific Admission Requirements
Right of admission and registration to the Department of Turkish Language and Literature can be obtained with YGS and LYS examinations made by ÖSYM (Center for Student Selection and Placement). Students’ admission to any department is subject to scores obtained in these examinations. Students make their choices according to their scores and submit the form of choice to ÖSYM. Then ÖSYM places students according to their scores and quotas of departments by ranking students from highest to lowest scores. The students who are admitted to the Department should also submit following document: 1-Photocopy of ID card or passport. 2-Diploma of high school or equivalent. 3-Document received from ÖSYM proving placement. 4-Six photographs.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations
In order to receive the degree in Turkish Language and Literature, the students must take all compulsory and electives courses of the program and must pass them. The students must also have at least a 2.00 CGPA out of 4.00.
Profile of The Programme
There are 5 main branches within the Department which are Contemporary Turkish Literature, Classic Turkish Literature, Folklore, Contemporary Turkish Languages, Old Turkish Languages. The main objective of the Department of Turkish Language and Literature is to raise students who are able to describe, explain, apply, analyze and teach fundamental principles of science of Turkish Philology within all privileges and responsibilities connected their qualification.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples
The basic policy of the Department of Turkish Language and Literature concerning employment is to raise well-equipped and curious philologist who search Turkish languages and literatures with scientific methods. In parallel with this objective, employment opportunities can be listed as follows: 1-Graduates can work as Turkish Language and Literature teacher in public and private sectors after finishing pedagogic formation. 2-They can work in archives, library by developing their ability to read paleographic texts. 3-They can work in different public services as specialist and deputy-specialist as long as they have all requirements of public employment.
Access to Further Studies
Graduates who successfully finished undergraduate education can continue to graduate programs as long as they receive enough score at ALES exam and they have sufficient knowledge of foreign language.
Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading
Students must make registration at the beginning of semester and must attend to at least %70 of classes through the semester. They take at least a mid-term and a final exam for each course. The impact of mid-term and final exams to the grade is %40 and %60 respectively. All scores are given out of 100 points. Students must receive at least 45 points at the final exam. If a student gets AA, BA, BB, CB, CC from his/her courses, this means the course is passed. DC and DD are grades which are conditionally successful. Students must have at least 2.00 CGPA to be accepted successful in DC and DD grades.
Graduation Requirements
Total Credits for Graduation in Courses Added to the Average: 158 (Compulsory Course Credit: 122) (Elective Course Credit: 36) Total Credits for Graduation in Compulsory Courses Not Included in the Average: 8 Graduation Total Credits: 158 A bachelor's degree in Turkish Language and Literature is given to students who successfully complete all the courses in the program and achieve a weighted grade point average of at least 2.00 out of 4.00.
