Horticulture Department Doctorate Program; It started education and training in 2021-2022.
Qualification Awarded
Doctorate degree in Horticulture Department is given to candidates who have been successful in the courses they have taken, have completed the studies on the thesis topics and successfully defended their thesis.

Specific Admission Requirements
Candidates who will apply to doctoral programs must meet the following conditions: The candidate's master's degree with a thesis; For the candidates who are citizens of the Republic of Turkey who have completed the master's program with thesis in foreign countries, the equivalence certificate they will receive from YÖK; in applications to integrated doctorate/proficiency in arts programs, candidates must have a bachelor's degree; Candidates who are citizens of the Republic of Turkey, who have completed their undergraduate programs in foreign countries, must have an equivalence certificate from YÖK. b) A minimum score of 2.50 out of 4.00 or an equivalent score for applications to doctoral programs with a graduate grade point average; For applications to integrated doctorate/proficiency in arts programs, the undergraduate grade point average must be at least 3.00 out of 4.00 or equivalent. c) Candidates applying with a master's degree must have received at least 55 from the ALES score type required for the program applied for, or an equivalent score from the exams accepted by YÖK. Applicants to integrated doctorate / proficiency in arts programs must have received at least 80 points from the ALES score type required for the program applied for, or an equivalent score from the exams accepted by YÖK. d) Evaluation score of candidates applying to doctoral/art proficiency programs; It is calculated by taking the sum of 50% of the ALES or equivalent score, 20% of the graduate grade point average with thesis and 30% of the scientific evaluation exam grade to be made. The evaluation score of the candidates applying to the integrated doctorate / proficiency in arts program is; It is calculated by taking the sum of 50% of the ALES or equivalent score, 20% of the undergraduate graduation grade point average and 30% of the scientific evaluation exam grade to be made. Candidates whose evaluation result is below 60 points or whose scientific evaluation exam score is below 50 points even though they have 60 points or more, are considered unsuccessful.
Specific Arrangements For Recognition Of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal)
Successful students who have completed at least one semester in another department of the same institute at the university or in a graduate program affiliated with an equivalent institute of another higher education institution can be admitted to graduate programs through horizontal transfer. In order for a student's lateral transfer application to be accepted, a weighted grade point average of at least 2.95 out of four from the courses he has registered for until the application date, there must be a harmony between the graduate education program he is currently continuing and the program he wants to transfer in terms of courses and entry requirements, It is necessary to have faculty members and infrastructure opportunities to undertake thesis advisory in the department. A student who wishes to transfer to a graduate program of the university; Applies before the start date of the next semester's education by attaching the documents that introduce the education program he/she is attending and the success status of the courses he/she is enrolled into his/her petition.
Qualification Requirements and Regulations
For students who have been accepted with a master's degree with a thesis, a total education period consists of at least 240 ECTS credits, including at least 7 courses, not less than 60 ECTS, seminar course, specialization course, a proficiency exam, thesis proposal, and thesis work. The maximum time to successfully complete the credit courses required for the doctoral program is four semesters for those who are accepted with a master's degree with a thesis, and six semesters for those who are accepted with a bachelor's degree.
Profile of The Programme
The main purpose of the Doctoral Degree in Horticulture is to train graduates with the ability to perceive, complete an original process and the ability to manage a process by following the knowledge of the latest developments in the fields of design, evaluation and use and engineering. It provides a comprehensive working ability that combines scientific and technological developments by developing a scientific method and applying a known method to a new field of application with training / or product, technological / process or an ethical responsibility.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples
Agricultural Engineers with doctorate degrees work in the public and private sectors. They can work as civil servants in different institutions such as the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry or the Undersecretariat of Foreign Trade, as well as have the opportunity to work in the private sector in fields such as fertilizer, medicine, seed, seedling, sapling production, storage, export-import, packaging-marketing, and certification. They will also have the right to work in agricultural consultancy and food control.
Access to Further Studies
Graduates who successfully complete the doctorate program can apply for an academic position in higher education institutions in the country or abroad, or for an expert position in research centers in public institutions in the same or similar fields.

Graduation Requirements
Doctoral programs consist of at least seven courses, a seminar, other learning activities and thesis work, provided that they are not less than 21 national credits and 120 ECTS credits. Out of 120 ECTS credits, 60 ECTS credits consist of lectures and seminars, and 60 ECTS credits consist of specialization courses including thesis work.
