General Description

History | It was established within the body of Erciyes University Yozgat Engineering Faculty of Architecture in 1994 and took the first undergraduate students in the 1995-1996 academic year and gave its first graduates in the 1999-2000 academic year. With the establishment of Bozok University in 2006, the Department of Geological Engineering joined the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture. The Geological Engineering Department, whose aim has been to increase the quality of education since the day it was founded, continues on its way for this purpose. | Qualification Awarded | B.S. Normal duration is 4 years. Students must take and pass all necessary courses and reach a minimum GPA (Grade Point Average) of 2.0 and complete with successfully the thesis before he/she can graduate.

| Profile of The Programme | The program includes four divisions namely, Engineering Geology, Ore Deposits, Mineralogy-Petrography, General Geology. An academic year contains two semesters of 14 weeks including registration and examination periods. Some courses are also given in summer semester. The language of teaching is in Turkish. | Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples | Students who have the Bachelors degree from Geological Engineering are employed in many different fields of areas, such as mining, construction, operate in underground gas exploration sector; MTA, TPAO, DSİ, ETİ MADEN, BOTAŞ, TKİ, TTK, TCK, Afet İşleri, İller Bankası, Köy Hizmetleri, Çevre Bakanlığı, and municipality.

The department have laboratories for mineralogy-petrography, Paleontology, Sedimentology, and soil mechanics courses. Also, collection laboratory is open for all students. Our department belong a research microscope. In addition, chemical analysis can be done with advence technology devices within Science and Technology Application, and Research Center (BİLTEM)
